A family business

Chazelles is a family business that set up in 1979, with just 9 employees, in Chazelles, Charente (16), where fine-quality light golden local stone has been mined and dressed for centuries.

Recognised for its expertise in the design of customised fireplaces, Chazelles manufactures and distributes complete heating systems combining aesthetic considerations with high energy and environmental performance.

On the company’s vast Chazelles site, stone dressers work alongside latest generation digitally controlled machinery.

A Strong development

Thanks to its strong development, the company has been able to invest in a new production plant increasing its total surface area from 12,000 to 20,000 m² and to equip itself with new high-performance tools and systems that optimise production, enable recycling of waste, and improve working conditions for its teams.

The company presently covers 7 hectares, comprising production site, R&D office, testing laboratory, engineering office, administrative departments, and 1000-m² warehouse, and has a total of 130 employees. Today, it is taking on fresh impetus, putting innovation and design at the heart of its development strategy.

To help you design your own personalised fireplace, a Chazelles consultant will come round to see where exactly you want to put the appliance, and to assess your project’s feasibility (in terms of safety, technical conformity, dimensions, etc.). We are there to answer your questions and to come up with the right solutions – to see your project materialise together. We then present you with a proposal suited to your requirements (as regard budget, style, materials, dimensions, layout, etc.), with all the know-how of the Chazelles engineering and design department to back us up, and submit the plans to you for acceptance.

Your fireplace will be installed step by step, in accordance with best practices, by a specialist from the Chazelles network: marking out of positioning, installation of base, insert, jambs, corbels, and lintel, along with smoke duct, insulation of supporting wall, connection of insert to flue, hood assembly and insulation, positioning of hot air exit grills, and finishing work.

Since the year 2000, we have been working alongside the Syndicat des Energies Renouvelables (SER – French renewable energy industry association) and the Agence De l’Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l’Energie (ADEME – French environment and energy management agency), committed to playing our part in protecting the environment. The “Flamme Verte” label borne by our products is a guarantee of high-performance appliances that are economical, use less wood, and cause little pollution. Our R&D Department is constantly at work, seeking the best possible results for our products, and an unwavering eye on the development of European standards guarantees that our brand is in full compliance with all regulations in force. Keeping faith with our product environmental policy, our production plant is equipped for waste reprocessing and recycling, with a full water recycling system used during the production cycle. Highly effective systems have also been set up to optimise production and facilitate employees’ working conditions.

Environmental concerns in the office

Another sign of our strong commitment to the quality of the environment is the investment we have made in renewing our computer network, 95% of which now consists of “green” computers meeting specific criteria with regard to design, energy, and recycling (less harmful components, lower energy consumption, easy disassembly upon retirement, recycling by the manufacturer, etc.).

Furthermore, in order to avoid wasteful printing of large numbers of documents, we favour the use of digital tools (e-messaging, internet, intranet, CDs, etc.) and use recycled paper to print our catalogues.

Preservation of natural resources

We design heating appliances that use wood as fuel – a renewable energy source. Its use encourages the upkeep and preservation of the natural resources provided by our forestland, whose natural expansion accounts for some 85 million m3 per year, more than 50% of remains standing. This is a major resource, and the use of wood as a heating fuel is therefore recommended.
